Government Salary Tables

From time-to-time it is often useful to make reference to past government salary schedules.  As a service to both our clients and others in the Washington, DC area, the following references are provided for those needing either Federal Government or District of Columbia Government pay tables.

District of Columbia Government salary schedules:  Included here are general service (DS, non-union) pay schedules for the District of Columbia Government's Fiscal Years 1999 through 2008.  The District Government has a complex formal salary structure represented by numerous pay schedules.  Only the basic general schedule for "District Service" grade employees are shown here.  The most current and complete sets of District of Columbia Government salary tables are usually available from the District's Office of Personnel Management.  The tables provided here are just a subset of those available on the DC Government web site.

Federal Government salary schedules:  Included here are general service (GS) pay schedules for the Federal Government's Fiscal Years 1998 through 2008.  The Federal Government defines its salary schedules by utilizing a base schedule which is then adjusted for differences in the regional cost of living throughout the country by applying locality pay adjustments.  Therefore, for reference purposes, both the base schedule and the Washington-Baltimore locality pay tables are provided here.   The Federal Government's Office of Personnel Management web site contains much more detailed information on salary and all other aspects of Federal Employee compensation and benefits, including an extensive set of past and present, local and national salary schedules.
